Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Is your meat organic?
- A: No, we are not certified organic. The pasture where we raise and finish our animals is pesticide and herbicide free. Those animals that receive supplemental feed; the pigs, turkeys and chickens, are given non-medicated all natural mixed grains. Any animals that become ill are given antibiotics so they do not suffer, but they are not sold to our customers. The only thing holding us back from being certified organic is the prohibitive cost of the feed, and we do not believe the cost is worth it.
- Q: How will we get our meat?
- A: When we butcher the animals we will make arrangements to meet you at a (hopefully mutually) convenient location so you can pick up your meat. The meat will be frozen, and the easiest way to transport it is usually a cool box.
- Q: Can I have my meat custom cut to fit my family's needs?
- A: Yes. We slaughter the animals here on our ranch, and then we take them to a butcher to have them processed. We will call you and tell you when the animals are being taken to the butcher, and you can tell them how you would like it cut and wrapped. The butcher will ask you all of the pertinent questions, and walk you through the process. Of course, the chickens and turkeys are only sold whole and we can not cut them up for you unless you pay us an exorbitant amount of money.
NOTE: Custom orders on pork are no longer available out of respect for our dear butcher. He is the best there is in making hams, bacon and sausage, but he is trying to cut down on his workload. Therefore we have agreed to just have a standardized order with him. We think you will like what he does!
